Paris, called the ‘City of Lights’ has a dark side too - and it is fascinating!! Discover the city from Notre Dame’s gargoyles, across Père la Chaise cemetery, down to the captivating underground world of the Catacombs.
Itinerary
Day 1
Morning departure, drive across France. Upon arrival in Paris we visit the city’s Isle and discover Notre Dame Cathedral. It is a jewel of Gothic architecture with its stained glass windows, an enormous facade and gargoyles overlooking the city. Then, on to discover the classical sights of Paris: The grand Avenue des Champs Elysèes, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Eiffel tower. Late afternoon we will check into our hotel. Later, join us for dinner at an authentic parisian restaurant and a cruise on the Seine River to enjoy the views of Paris by night.
Day 2
We’ll start the day with a visit to the fascinating underground world of the Catacombs. Discover the system of tunnels, halls and gangways where 6 million Parisians lie motionless. Their skeletons are neatly stacked and aligned to form the walls of nearly a kilometer of walking passages. Lunch (not incl.) at the Hard Rock Café and time to shop for souvenirs. Last, we'll stroll across the legendary Père la Chaise cemetery, where celebrities including Oskar Wilde, Voltaire, Edith Piaf and Jim Morrison are buried. The grave monuments are like little houses and stand along with chapels, statues and flowers. A calm and inspiring atmosphere exists in this city of the dead. Evening return to Ramstein.
